Self-collected saliva revealed that perceived stress at home, but not at work, was associated with a lower cortisol awakening response and flatter diurnal slope, an effect seen only in women. This demonstrates that home-based saliva sampling can detect stress-related hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis changes, supporting its use in remote stress monitoring and highlighting sex-specific responses.
