Point-of-Care Saliva Osmolarity Testing for the Screening of Hydration in Older Adults With Hypertension

Point-of-care salivary osmolarity measurement correlated strongly with first-morning urine specific gravity in hypertensive older adults, and patients on diuretics showed significantly higher values indicating dehydration. This suggests saliva testing could serve as a rapid, noninvasive alternative for hydration screening in community-based, decentralised care.
