Dried blood spot cards: A reliable sampling method to detect human antibodies against rabies virus
Doornekamp et al.
The finding, in our words
The study validated dried blood spot cards for detecting rabies virus antibodies in 99 human pre- and post-vaccination samples, finding strong correlation between DBS and serum with the gold-standard FAVNt (R = 0.88) and acceptable sensitivity and specificity with both FAVNt and Platelia-II ELISA, supporting their use for rabies serology in remote areas where venipuncture is impractical.
