Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Prevalence in Male Adolescents 4 Years After HPV-16/18 Vaccination
Lehtinen et al.
The finding, in our words
First-void urine testing showed significantly lower overall HPV DNA prevalence in vaccinated male adolescents at 4.1 per cent compared with 10.1 per cent in unvaccinated adolescents, with HPV-16/18 prevalence reduced to zero in the vaccinated group four years after vaccination. The results support bivalent vaccine protective efficacy in men and demonstrate that decentralised HPV screening using self-collected first-void urine is feasible in an adolescent screening context.
