Hemoglobin Variant Analysis and Its Comparison between Conventional High-performance Liquid Chromatography Using Whole Blood versus Dried Blood Spot: High-performance Liquid Chromatography
Jena et al.
The finding, in our words
Dried blood spot HPLC accurately identified and quantified all major hemoglobin variants after ambient storage for up to three weeks, correctly diagnosing sickle cell, beta-thalassemia and other hemoglobinopathies compared to conventional whole blood analysis. This supports cost-effective, decentralised screening in remote regions where venous sampling is impractical.
