Evaluation of a Novel Capillary Blood Collection System for Blood Sampling in Nontraditional Settings as Compared with Currently Marketed Capillary and Venous Blood Collection Systems for Selected General Chemistry Analytes
Parikh et al.
The finding, in our words
BD's MiniDraw capillary system, in the hands of trained staff without phlebotomy experience, was clinically equivalent to conventional capillary and venous collection for a panel of general chemistry analytes, alanine aminotransferase and chloride against the venous comparator excepted, and its serum separator tube held the analytes for 48 hours. It shows an upper-arm system reaching pharmacy-style settings with laboratory-grade results.
