Peer-delivered mail-order self-collection and linkage to treatment for hepatitis C virus infection among users of a harm reduction service in Denmark
Demant et al.
The finding, in our words
In a prospective study of 126 people who inject drugs, 44 percent completed DBS self-collection and received HCV results; among completers, 7 percent had detectable HCV RNA and all initiated treatment. Completion was higher in those aged 40 or older and in opioid agonist treatment, but lower with stimulant use and previous HCV testing, demonstrating feasibility of peer-supported mail-order screening.
