Neisseria gonorrhoeae culture growth rates from asymptomatic individuals with a positive nucleic acid amplification test
Nadal-Baron et al.
The finding, in our words
Among asymptomatic individuals with gonorrhoea, 71.3% of infections were pharyngeal and 23.1% rectal, with only 4.7% genital. The study evaluated culture recovery from self-collected first-void urine and swabs, demonstrating that decentralised screening must address extragenital sites to enable antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
