First-void urine samples showed significantly higher detection rates of HPV-specific IgG antibodies compared to midstream urine, confirming the necessity of capturing the initial stream. The study found no significant difference between 10 mL and 20 mL collection volumes, indicating flexibility in device specifications for self-collection.
First-void urine sampling detected 33% prevalence of 28 HPV types in 16-21-year-old Ugandan females. HPV16/18 prevalence was markedly lower among vaccinated participants (1.4%) than unvaccinated (5.6%), though vaccine coverage was suboptimal with inconsistent dosing.
