Community intervention of a single-dose or 2-dose regimen of bivalent human papillomavirus vaccine in schoolgirls in Thailand: vaccine effectiveness 2 years and 4 years after vaccination
Jiamsiri et al.
The finding, in our words
Four years after vaccination, HPV-16/18 prevalence in schoolgirls fell from 3–6% to under 0.6% for both single-dose and two-dose regimens, with single-dose effectiveness at 90.6% proving non-inferior to the two-dose schedule. This validates first-void urine sampling for community-based vaccine effectiveness monitoring in decentralised screening programmes.
