High-Risk Human Papillomavirus Messenger RNA Testing Using Urine, Cervicovaginal Self-Collected and Provider-Collected Cervical Samples Among Women in Mombasa, Kenya
Grabert et al.
The finding, in our words
Urine self-collection was acceptable to participants, but high-risk HPV mRNA detection in urine was less sensitive for high-grade cervical lesions than self- or provider-collected cervical samples. This suggests that while urine sampling may improve participation in decentralised screening programmes, it could miss more disease.
