Emergence of antibiotic-resistant Mycoplasma genitalium as the cause of non-gonococcal urethritis in male patients at a sexually transmitted infection clinic
Lee et al.
The finding, in our words
First-void urine sampling detected Mycoplasma genitalium in 8% of 493 men with non-gonococcal urethritis at a Hong Kong STI clinic. With antimicrobial-resistance mutations in 63% of isolates, including dual-class resistance in 37%, the results support decentralised screening to guide therapy.
