Effect of Alcohol Swab on Blood Glucose Readings Using a Glucometer: A Quasi-Experimental Study

In adults, cleaning the fingertip with an alcohol swab did not significantly change capillary glucose readings compared with handwashing, whether the alcohol was left wet or allowed to dry completely. This supports the continued safe use of alcohol swabs before capillary glucose testing in clinical and home settings.

    The homeRNA capillary blood collection and stabilization platform successfully captured lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory gene expression profiles.     A machine learning model called Remote Control was trained on 2685 blood samples to predict change due to instability, enabling accurate calibration of results to approximate the time zero value at collection.
