Acceptability and feasibility of a community based participatory research project comparing cytology and urine HPV DNA testing for cervical cancer screening in Yap, Federated States of Micronesia
Sy et al.
The finding, in our words
In a Yap community-based study, 95 per cent of women reported comfort with self-collected urine HPV testing versus 82 per cent with Pap smears, though 42 per cent preferred a clinician to perform the Pap test. This suggests urine self-collection could improve cervical screening access in underserved low-middle income settings where trained personnel are scarce.
