Pyrethroid insecticide exposure and cognitive developmental disabilities in children: The PELAGIE mother-child cohort

In a French mother-child cohort, childhood exposure to pyrethroid insecticides, measured in first-void urine, was associated with reduced verbal comprehension scores at age six, while prenatal exposure showed no consistent association.     First-void urine samples from 85 Austrian school children aged six to ten showed frequent low-level exposure to mycotoxins and phytoestrogens, with 22 percent exceeding the tolerable daily intake for deoxynivalenol and some facing possible health risks from ochratoxin A.
