How does online postal self-sampling (OPSS) shape access to testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)? A qualitative study of service users
Spence et al.
The finding, in our words
In a qualitative study of 100 service users, online postal self-sampling for STIs was valued for privacy and for overcoming barriers such as limited clinic appointments, although blood self-sampling proved challenging for most participants. Users favoured retaining clinic access for broader sexual health support, indicating that decentralised testing works best as part of a hybrid model rather than a complete replacement.
