An epidemiological study of Mycoplasma genitalium infections among males attending a sexually transmitted disease clinic in Guangxi, China
Zheng et al.
The finding, in our words
Among 406 men at a Chinese STD clinic, 28.1% had Mycoplasma genitalium infection detected by PCR on first-void urine; infection was associated with younger age, higher education, single status, lack of recent STD symptoms, inconsistent condom use with steady partners, and recent sexual contact with female sex workers. This supports decentralised STI screening using self-collected first-void urine.
