Algorithms with Area under the Curve for Daily Urinary Estrone-3-Glucuronide and Pregnanediol-3-Glucuronide to Signal the Transition to the Luteal Phase

An algorithm using the ratio of area under the curve for daily urinary E3G and PDG, together with a cycle-specific rise in PDG, correctly identified the luteal transition in all 78 cycles and predicted the start of the safe period from day +2 to +6 with a mean of 10.3 safe luteal days. This offers a practical, self-collection based approach to time the menstrual cycle for natural family planning and clinical assessment of ovarian function.
