Acceptability of self-sampling for etiological diagnosis of mucosal sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among transgender women in a longitudinal cohort study in São Paulo, Brazil
McCartney et al.
The finding, in our words
In a cohort of transgender women in São Paulo, self-collection of urine and other genital samples for STI screening was highly acceptable, with most participants preferring self-collection over provider collection for reasons of privacy and comfort; this supports the feasibility of decentralised, patient-centric sampling for STI diagnosis.
