Acceptability of self-collected vaginal swabs for sexually transmitted infection testing among youth in a community-based setting in Zimbabwe
Rochford et al.
The finding, in our words
Most young women found self-collected vaginal swabs easy and acceptable for STI testing, with 60.9% preferring them to urine samples when both were offered. The method was feasible in a community-based Zimbabwean setting, with high rates of understanding, privacy, and sense of control, suggesting it could expand access to STI screening.
