Gut Microbiota Composition and Functionality Are Associated With REM Sleep Duration and Continuous Glucose Levels

In 118 middle-aged volunteers, decreased REM sleep duration was independently associated with worse glucose variability, particularly among those with obesity. Specific gut microbiota species from the Christensenellaceae and Enterobacteriaceae families correlated with both REM sleep duration and continuous glucose values, suggesting an integrated relationship between sleep, glucose metabolism and gut microbiota in metabolic health.

    Collecting at-Home Biometric Measures for Longitudinal Research From the i3C: Feasibility and Acceptability Study

    Probiotic supplementation improved wearable-measured sleep duration in healthy adults, demonstrating that continuous digital sleep metrics can detect clinically meaningful changes from gut microbiota interventions. The trial showed concurrent shifts in stool microbiome composition, short-chain fatty acids and cortisol, linking gut-brain axis modulation to objective sleep outcomes.

    Operational and Clinical Insights from a Fully Decentralized Clinical Study Evaluating Protocol Adherence, Participant Satisfaction, and Connected Device Data in Individuals with Type 2 Diabetes on Different Treatment Regimens

    A fully remote decentralised clinical trial in Danish adults with type 2 diabetes demonstrated operational feasibility with rapid recruitment, high retention (87 percent), and excellent adherence to continuous glucose monitoring (95 percent achieving ≥70 percent data coverage) and telemedicine visits (97 percent). Activity tracker adherence was poor (12 percent) due to technical issues, but remote safety monitoring was effective with no unexpected adverse events, supporting the viability of remote diabetes management.
