Remote Rating of Atopic Dermatitis Severity Using Photo-Based Assessments: Proof-of-Concept and Reliability Evaluation
Ali et al.
The finding, in our words
Smartphone photographs of atopic dermatitis lesions produced severity scores that correlated strongly with in-person clinical assessment (r=0.78) and were comparable to digital SLR camera images. The high inter-rater reliability among dermatologists supports remote photo-based scoring for decentralised trials and telehealth, reducing patient burden.
